The IHTCA Acrobatic Yoga Class is a three day, intensive course that will focus on the many benefits of IHTCA (in traditional poses) combined with vigorous stretching. The class is taught by Jonano and features the best of IHTCA poses but also works on stretching, balance and core strength as well. The class was designed for people who want to learn the skills needed for a lifetime of physical conditioning and movement. Jonano feels that there are three key areas that need developing: flexibility, core strength and stamina. He believes the purpose of this IHTCA Acrobatic Yoga Class is to ensure that you have all three areas strong and functioning at all times.

Building Core Muscles

The core muscles are the base of all muscular power and hold the most amount of weight in the human body. This is why this class focuses on them so much. The poses work on these muscles more than any other part of the body, therefore, they are the most important area to develop. This acrobatic style of yoga is a wonderful way to achieve full body conditioning. The classes are designed in such a way that the poses compliment each other, thus working together as a whole, instead of one part overwhelming the other.

The first day of classes starts off with a warm up and then follows with a cooling down procedure, followed by a final stretch and a breathing exercise. The first exercise usually begins with a slow meditative sequence, which introduces the participant to the physical and mental benefits of yoga. It also prepares the body and mind for the rigorous poses which will follow. This class aims to build strength, flexibility and stamina through relaxation and concentration.

Dynamic Warm Up And Intense Workout

The second day of classes begins with a dynamic warm up and intense workout. The class works on increasing the overall muscle power of the entire body. The dynamic warm ups include the basic Asanas as well as Pranayama. The Asanas are quite demanding and can be quite strenuous, therefore, they should be done prior to or at the end of any other class.

Energetic Pranayama

Next comes the energetic Pranayama, which is an ancient form of yoga which mainly focuses on breathing. The Ashtanga school of this discipline focuses mainly on deep breathing and visualization. These exercises are perfect for those who want to relax and get in the mood. Both these exercises must be done slowly and intensely. Failure to do these two exercises will result in poor form and poor performance.

The final two Asana, known as the Adho Mukta Svanasana, prepare the body for the final stretching and toning exercises. The three major Asanas that are performed in this particular Ashtanga Yoga class, are meant to increase the flexibility of the body and strengthen the internal organs, resulting in a healthy circulation of blood. These Asanas are meant to improve the energy flow and to eliminate all the toxins present in the body.
